Semester:

Year offered:
2019
The course explored methodologies in American Studies. It also initiated a collaborative project (with Christina Linklater of the Harvard Music Library) curating an exhibit about the scholar Eileen Southern and her pathbreaking book The Music of Black Americans (first published in 1971). Southern was the first African American woman tenured in Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and a major collection of her papers exists in the Harvard University Archive.
